About The Position
The Lead Information Security Engineer at Lumen is a pivotal role responsible for the implementation and administration of network security hardware and software, ensuring compliance with network security policies. This position requires a high level of proficiency with Fortinet and Palo Alto firewalls, as well as related products. The engineer will be tasked with hands-on troubleshooting, maintaining and patching managed security platforms, and interfacing with clients and associates to resolve complex security cases. The role emphasizes the importance of documentation and adherence to service level agreement (SLA) targets and requirements. In this role, the engineer will architect, design, implement, maintain, and operate information system security controls and countermeasures. They will analyze and recommend security controls and procedures within business processes, development, and change management lifecycles of information systems, providing oversight to ensure compliance. The engineer will also develop monitoring and visibility capabilities on information systems to identify security incidents and vulnerabilities, reporting on these incidents and trends to customers or executive management. The position involves providing direct technical support, including advanced troubleshooting on Fortinet and Palo Alto products, and making recommendations based on analysis of configuration and network information. Specific installation tasks may include physically installing firewalls and other security appliances, configuring remote access and site-to-site VPN functionality, and integrating firewalls with other security products. The engineer will also be responsible for managing customer communications and expectations until the closure of each case, ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction.
