About The Position

The Lead Information Security Engineer at Lumen is a pivotal role responsible for the implementation and administration of network security hardware and software, ensuring compliance with network security policies. This position requires a high level of proficiency with Fortinet and Palo Alto firewalls, as well as related security products. The engineer will be tasked with hands-on troubleshooting, maintaining and patching managed security platforms, and interfacing with clients and associates to resolve complex security cases. The role emphasizes the importance of documentation and adherence to service level agreements (SLAs). In this role, the engineer will architect, design, implement, maintain, and operate information system security controls and countermeasures. They will analyze and recommend security controls and procedures throughout the business processes, development, and change management lifecycle of information systems, providing oversight to ensure compliance. Additionally, the engineer will develop monitoring and visibility capabilities on information systems to identify security incidents and vulnerabilities, reporting on these incidents and trends to customers or executive management. The engineer will also be responsible for managing authentication systems and access controls, including provisioning and changes to existing controls. They will analyze and develop information security governance controls, including organizational policies, procedures, standards, baselines, and guidelines related to information security. Furthermore, the engineer will provide guidance to organizational management and customers, developing and executing plans for compliance and risk mitigation. Specific installation tasks may include physically installing and connecting firewalls and other security appliances, configuring remote access and site-to-site VPN functionality, and integrating firewalls with various Fortinet and Palo Alto products. The role requires advanced troubleshooting skills and the ability to manage customer communications and expectations until the closure of each case.
