About The Position

Diagnose, lead, and oversee the repair and installation of heating and cooling systems while guiding both customers and team members to confident, high-quality outcomes. As a Lead HVAC Technician, you will set the standard for technical excellence, customer experience, and team performance at Plumbing Systems Inc. (PSI).

Requirements

  • Active HVAC license with strong knowledge of local codes and best practices.
  • 5+ years of HVAC experience with proven leadership or lead technician experience.
  • Expertise in diagnosing, repairing, and installing residential and light commercial HVAC systems.
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams.

Nice To Haves

  • NATE certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and mentoring abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and perform advanced HVAC diagnostics, service, and installation on residential and light commercial systems.
  • Serve as the on-site technical expert, supporting and guiding technicians and apprentices.
  • Establish strong customer rapport and confidently recommend the right products and services.
  • Ask strategic lifestyle and system-use questions to accurately troubleshoot system issues.
  • Educate customers on repair vs. replacement options, financing, and maintenance plans.
  • Identify and present replacement opportunities for aging or inefficient systems.
  • Hold yourself and your team accountable to service KPIs, revenue goals, and quality standards.
  • Ensure jobs are completed efficiently, safely, and up to PSI standards.
  • Maintain a clean, organized job site and a fully stocked, well-managed truck.
  • Collaborate with dispatch and customer service to maximize schedule efficiency and customer satisfaction.
  • Train, mentor, and develop apprentices and junior technicians in the field.
  • Participate in trainings, meetings, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of invoices, job notes, and system documentation.
