About The Position

The HV Equipment Engineer will play a critical role in providing expert technical support for GE Vernova FACTS. This position requires a highly technical, customer-focused, and self-motivated individual. As a key member of this world-class team, the HV Equipment Engineer will lead the project engineering for FACTS Solutions. The HV Project Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing systems for our Flexible AC Transmission Systems (FACTS), ensuring optimal performance and reliability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, (Electrical Engineering is preferred)
  • Minimum of 4 years of related experience in Electrical Engineering.
  • Strong knowledge of substation design, power systems, and experience using IEEE, IEC, ANSI, NEC, and NESC standards and codes.
  • Proficiency in software tools such as Word, Excel, document management, reporting tools, simulation tools and Python.
  • Understanding of control systems, equipment schematics, installation, field-testing and commissioning of HV equipment, including required safe work habits.
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 20% as required, which may include remote locations and international travel, and be willing to comply with all relevant company travel and tax policies

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, and implementation of electrical equipment design for FACTS devices, including Fixed Series Capacitors, Blocking Filters and Synchronous Condensers.
  • Develop equipment studies, equipment specifications, issue material purchase requests, and evaluate vendor quotations for FACTS equipment including capacitors, arresters, reactors, rotating equipment, high voltage circuit breakers, power transformers, high voltage cable, and protection and control systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including control engineers, design engineers, and technical project managers, to ensure the successful project execution.
  • Conduct system modeling, simulation, and analysis to optimize electrical design and improve system performance.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and support their professional development.
  • Participate in the testing and validation of FACTS systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Stay current with the latest advancements in FACTS systems engineering and power systems technology.
  • Prepare technical documentation, including test plans, training, and user manuals.
  • Support business development activities by providing technical expertise and contributing to proposal development.
