About The Position

The onsite Lead, HR Business Partner supports a unionized Operations client group within our Maritime sector, serving as a strategic advisor to leadership and a key partner in labor relations, workforce planning, and organizational development. This role drives HR strategy, ensures contract compliance, and strengthens leadership capability in a highly regulated, mission ‑ critical environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience, or Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.
  • Requires comprehensive level knowledge of job area.
  • In-depth knowledge of project management.
  • At least 2 years of experience supporting unionized groups.
  • Experience with unionized environments.
  • Ability to influence leaders and manage complex HR issues.

Nice To Haves

  • HR certification (PHR/SPHR/SHRM‑CP/SHRM‑SCP) a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance on CBA interpretation.
  • Leads collective bargaining preparation and negotiations.
  • Leads employee relations matters, ensuring compliance with policies, CBAs, and employment laws.
  • Collaborate with HR Centers of Excellence to deliver enterprise HR programs.
  • Works closely with leadership and staff to define and execute HR strategies that enable accomplishment of business objectives.
  • Establishes, implements and oversees human resources policies and programs by providing counsel and assistance to employees and management in HR matters.
  • Facilitates organization and leadership development efforts.
  • Works with employees and managers to address root causes of human resources and employee relations issues.
  • Supports talent management and succession planning activity within client organization.
  • Provides change management leadership.
  • Coordinates employee transfers, status changes, new hire onboarding, conducts exit interviews and provides recommendations for corrective action.
  • Assists and/or advises management in the formal discipline or termination of employees.
  • Leads arbitrations, conciliations, and compliance with federal and state labor legislation, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned.
