The Lead Housing Assignment Clerk at Purdue University is responsible for managing housing-related financial issues and supporting students in their housing experience across the West Lafayette and Indianapolis campuses. This role involves auditing housing records, serving as a liaison for facilities, and managing housing contracts, all while ensuring a positive living and learning environment for students. The position requires strong attention to detail, student advocacy, and collaboration across departments to effectively address student needs and concerns.

  • Manage student accounts with past-due housing and meal plan charges.
  • Institute collection processes as needed.
  • Work closely with the Bursar's Office to conduct comprehensive reviews of housing and meal plan charges.
  • Address and resolve inquiries and disputes from students and parents.
  • Interact with individuals to address questions and concerns related to discounts, damage charges, and other housing and meal plan issues.
  • Monitor and coordinate resources and timelines.
  • Assist with the student contract appeals process, including reviewing appeal submissions, creating documentation, scheduling reviews, and proofing judgments and financial adjustments.
  • High school diploma/GED and four years of work-related experience.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience, preferably in customer service or training.
  • Strong organizational, time management and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Understanding of interpersonal and intercultural relations.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficiency in using a housing management system and other relevant software.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from different viewpoints and backgrounds.
  • Ability to multi-task and work within deadlines with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to ten pounds frequently, and up to twenty pounds occasionally.
