About The Position

The Skilled Worker / Semi-Skilled Worker position at Vestas involves executing packaging, shipping, and transporting Nacelles, Hubs, and other components while supporting the factory with all Heavy Equipment needs. The role requires operating various Heavy Equipment to store and distribute materials, tools, equipment, and products within the establishment. The operator is responsible for training others and reinforcing safety standards and work processes.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 2+ years of experience in material handling and forklift operation.
• Certified on various types of forklifts and heavy equipment.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to adapt quickly to change.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams).
• Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Teach according to all work instructions, policies, and procedures regarding heavy equipment operation.
• Ensure the safe execution of all standard and non-standard lifts in all types of lighting and weather conditions.
• Identify gaps in process and lead improvement projects.
• Implement ideas into standard work.
• Work with support staff to validate quality or process improvement changes.
• Demonstrate focus on quality and set an example for others.
• Conduct milestone observations.
• Participate in providing training for all employees.
• Identify and escalate gaps in safety standards, protocols, processes, and behavior.
• Promote and foster a strong team environment.
• Ensure cross-departmental collaboration in accomplishing operational objectives/goals.
• Perform and teach all system functions in Rail and Outside Receiving.
• Maintain inventory records through the use of Vestas handheld devices and computers.
• Complete daily safety inspections on all equipment and maintain cleanliness.
• Complete 1st line maintenance requirements on all equipment.
• Review schedules to determine components and material to be moved.
• Ensure timely filling of requisitions, work orders, or requests for materials.
