The Heavy Equipment Operator’s primary responsibility is operating clamshells, lowboys, motor graders, heavy loaders, water trucks, bulldozers, rollers, scrapers, and tractors. Equipment used to excavate, load or move dirt, gravel and other materials. The ideal Heavy Equipment Operator is experienced in all tools and equipment used in the trade and follows all health and safety standards. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 3+ years of experience operating heavy equipment
  • 3+ years of experience operating water trucks
  • Valid driver’s license compliant with REAL ID Act or are you willing and able to obtain one
  • Pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check
  • Regular, dependable attendance
  • U. S. citizenship to obtain and maintain access to military installations
  • Must lift 75 lbs. unassisted
  • Must work in extreme weather conditions - summer peaks at 120° Fahrenheit
  • Must wear appropriate Person Protective Equipment (PPO)
  • Dependable transportation and a dependable means of communication
  • Be able speak, write, read, and understand English
  • Well-mannered customer service attitude
  • Willing to cross-train in other areas
  • Punctual, responsible, and dependable
  • Demonstrate motivation, initiative, and reliability
  • Adaptable, flexible, and able to adjust to new or changing instructions

  • Ability to operate numerous equipment for the trade i.e. forklifts, scissor/man lifts, bobcat backhoe, loader, scrapers, grader, water truck, etc.
  • Knowledge of craft theory and craft materials with the ability to apply the theory and select the proper materials
  • Knowledge of all tools and equipment that are used by the craft
  • Comply with rules and policies, working safely
  • Perform in a rapid and efficient manner under extreme conditions
  • Adaptable, flexible, and able to adjust to new or changing instructions.
  • Works both independently and as part of a team.

Nice To Haves

  • Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret grade and slope stakes and simple plans
  • Grease, adjust and make emergency repairs to equipment
  • Troubleshoot and repair most complex problems
  • Understand blueprints, construction drawings, schematics and drawings as they pertain to the craft
