About The Position

Since 1997, our factory has been a leading producer of the nation's cat litter supply. Located on Tidy Cat Road, our 40-acre plant site is seamlessly connected to a clay mine, enabling efficient mining, processing, packaging, and shipping. Operating around the clock, we mass produce conventional and clumping cat litter, supplying the mid-Atlantic region with nearly a third of a million tons annually. As a Lead Heavy Equipment Operator, you will provide training to Heavy Equipment Operators and coordinate day-to-day operations. You will also expertly operate and maintain mining equipment and other related equipment to ensure a smooth flow of clay from the mine to the processing department.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent
• 5+ years of experience operating heavy equipment including but not limited to excavators, bulldozers, haul trucks, and loaders

Nice To Haves

• Virginia DMME Mine Foreman certification
• Ability to acquire and maintain the Virginia DMME Mine Foreman certification upon meeting the state minimum requirements

Responsibilities

• Assign work tasks to team members and monitor task accomplishment.
• Train and provide technical guidance to other team members.
• Operate heavy equipment, including but not limited to 40-ton articulating haul truck, front end loader, skid steerer, excavator, water truck, and dozers.
• Perform safety checks, operate, troubleshoot, make adjustments, and perform lubrication on equipment.
• Communicate with other assigned operators, departments, and with supervisors.
• Complete basic facility grounds maintenance as needed.
