About The Position

Lead Geologist, Technical Services (Coeur Mining, Inc.; Chicago, IL): Develop, maintain, and continuously improve geological and mineral resource models. Provide comprehensive technical support to exploration and mine planning programs across geological operations in the U.S., Mexico, and Canada. Participate in frequent geological site visits to coordinate technical reviews. Define strategies related to surface and underground geological mapping, implementation of sampling and Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) programs, validation of geological databases using acQuire®, core logging (both geological and geotechnical), drill planning, and reconciliation between resource models, production, and reserves. Build and update 3D geological and mineral resource models using Leapfrog Geo, Maptek Vulcan, and Datamine Supervisor. Automate workflows with SQL in acQuire® and Python in Vulcan®. Produce data visualizations in Power BI. Support reconciliation of mine-to-mill performance (F1, F2, F3), generation of NSR (Net Smelter Return) models, and preparation of technical documentation. Provide technical training to geology staff. Participate in technical audits, due diligence processes, and asset evaluations. Serve as a Qualified Person (QP) under the S-K 1300 standard for public disclosure of mineral resources, particularly in structurally controlled epithermal and orogenic gold-silver deposits. Ensure alignment between corporate technical standards and regulatory requirements across jurisdictions. Act as a key liaison in the implementation of U.S.-based technical standards in field operations, ensuring clear communication and effective integration across multidisciplinary teams. 40 hours per week, M-F (9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.). #LI-DNI

Requirements

  • Must have a Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Geology, Geological Engineering, or a related field, and 10 years of post-bachelor’s, progressive related work experience; OR a Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Geology, Geological Engineering, or a related field, and 8 years of related work experience.
  • Of the required experience, must have 8 years of experience with the following: Development and maintenance of geological and mineral resource models using Maptek Vulcan; 3D geological interpretation and data validation using Leapfrog Geo; Implementation of QA/QC protocols for sampling and geological analysis; and Maintenance and administration of an acQuire® database management system.
  • Of the required experience, must have 3 years of experience with the following: Reconciliation between resource models, production models, and reserves; Applied geostatistical analysis in accordance with industry practice standards using Datamine Supervisor; and Automation of geological databases using SQL and Python scripting.
  • Telecommuting permitted up to 2 days a week, depending on business need.
  • Travel to various locations throughout the US required up to 10%.
  • Travel to various international locations required up to 20%.
