About The Position

A Lead Fuel Technician with a year or more of experience leading and guiding Fuel Technicians to ensure safe, efficient, andpliant fueling activities. Supports the Fuel Manager with daily workflow management, coordinating open work orders, and maintaining smooth departmental operations. Skilled in vendor relations, operational efficiency, and cost-saving initiatives that strengthen the department as well as repair and maintenance of fuel dispensing and related equipment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical or trade school certification preferred.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in fuel systems maintenance, petroleum equipment service, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of Leading Fuel Technicians
  • Familiarity with dispensers, tank monitors, submersible pumps, and vapor recovery systems.
  • Proficiency with digital multimeters and other diagnostic tools.
  • Ability to read schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record.
  • Ability to work independently in a field-based environment.
  • Must meet all state and federal licensing requirements for fuel system service work.
  • UST Operator Class A/B certification preferred or must be obtained based on jurisdiction.
  • Must be able to obtain required work cards or permits (e.g., Health Card, Safety Card, Non-Gaming Card, if applicable).
  • Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals, safety documents, and regulatorypliance materials. Must be able to write service reports andmunicate effectively with team members and site staff in English.
  • Ability to logic and technical knowledge to diagnose issues, implement solutions, and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and crouch for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Manual dexterity to use hand tools, diagnostic devices, and equipment.
  • Ability to climb ladders, work in underground sump's, and access tanks.
  • Must be able to drive to various service locations throughout the workday.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with fuel monitoring systems (e.g., Veeder-Root, Incon) is preferred.
  • Manufacturer certifications for fuel equipment (Gilbarco, Wayne, Veeder-Root, etc.) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs scheduled and emergency maintenance on fuel dispensers, tank monitors, submersible pumps, and associated systems.
  • Performs daily repair and maintenance of fuel dispensing and related equipment in a timely and professional manner per equipment priority code.
  • Performs installation and startup of fuel dispensing and related equipment.
  • Installs, tests, and calibrates fuel equipment and systemponents in accordance with manufacturer andpany specifications.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs electrical and mechanical issues related to fuel systems.
  • Responds to fuel alarms, spill events, or equipment failures to minimize environmental and operational impact.
  • Maintains parts inventory for fuel department (Service Trucks and Warehouse).
  • Identify opportunities to improve departmental processes, enhance productivity, and reduce operational costs.
  • Lead and support a team of fuel technicians, providing direction, training, and oversight to ensure high standards of safety, accuracy, and service.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors to ensure reliable service, timely deliveries, and favorable pricing.
  • Ensures all work is performed safely and inpliance withpany, local, and federal standards.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
