About The Position

This position is responsible for assisting with the management and operation of the House of Charity services.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or a General Education Degree.
  • Demonstrated leadership, management, and administrative skills.
  • Ability to compassionately interact with mentally ill, substance abusers and homeless individuals.
  • Valid Driver’s License and the ability to drive for work use.
  • Successfully pass background check applicable to position.
  • Requires respirator medical evaluation questionnaire, fit testing, training, and use of respiratory protection as required by the WA Industrial Safety & Act standards. Refer to WAC 296-842 to learn more.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures that the rules are being observed and that it is a safe environment for patrons, staff and volunteers. Maintain safety and security by monitoring all general access areas. Respond to and resolve resident complaints.
  • Responsible for training new OAs on the different responsibilities of swing and overnight shift.
  • Oversees the Respite Program on designated days or evenings. This includes arranging transportation, acting as liaison between Respite and outside agencies, assigning beds and completing related paperwork.
  • Oversees required operations tasks during shift, including overseeing community volunteers as needed and attending the front desk, giving out mail, checking in gear, accepting donations, and answering telephones.
  • Responsible for process review and process improvement to ensure the best quality of care for patrons.
  • Acts as a liaison with the Catholic Charities Security Team to maintain best practices of safety and security at HOC. Tracks and ensures a standard level of safety training for all Operations Assistants is maintained.
  • Through regular interactions with clients, makes appropriate referrals to relevant social services. Assists case management staff in the coordination of services to residents.

  • Responsible for ensuring shelter data is up to date, accurate and complete monthly. Responsible for sending data verification to funders as necessary.
  • Performs periodic walks throughout the facility to detect hazards. Manage all building operations in the absence of other staff as assigned.
  • Intervene in crises, respond to emergencies, and initiate action as required, including contact with emergency response systems. Debrief Operations Assistants on their crisis response to ensure safe practices were followed.
  • Participate on the HOC Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) Team.
  • Coordinates regular Operations Assistant check-ins.
  • Write significant events involving residents and building operations activities in a daily log; read log daily.
  • Uses appropriate administrative, fiscal, physical, and technical safeguards to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and security of CCEW client protected health information (PHI), per regulations outlined in the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA).
  • Will regularly utilize all forms of communication (email, text, phone, etc.) and database practices necessary for this position and as directed by supervisor.
  • As a mandated reporter, follow all procedures outlined in agency policies and procedures to report to the proper agency when there is suspicion and/or confirmation that a child or adult has been a victim of abuse or neglect.
  • Performs other relevant duties assigned by supervisor.

  • Performs as a team member to assure that productivity outcome measures are achieved.
  • Performs related functions necessary to support the mission and core values of Catholic Charities.
