As a member of NIKE's WHQ Engineering team you will be focusing on footwear product excellence best practices that ultimately drive and support quality, craftsmanship and efficiency. You'll enable basketball product deliverables that are crafted, manufactured, cost effective and meet performance and quality expectations of the athlete and consumer. You'll collaborate with offshore and onshore teams providing input on design, material choices, costing and construction. You'll facilitate the basketball category's continued growth through the development of new designs, materials and manufacturing techniques.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field.
  • A minimum of 6 years directly relevant years of work experience.
  • 5+ years of relevant industry experience in a manufacturing or research and development field (chemical, manufacturing, product testing, plastic molding, industrial or mechanical engineering).
  • Knowledge of footwear product fabrication, pattern engineering, tooling and manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, sketches and/or 3D digital files.
  • Digital literacy, including familiarity with Microsoft Office, spreadsheets, database management and proficiency with 2D/3D CAD/CAM tools, pattern engineering software is a plus.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 35lbs.
  • Strong creative problem-solving skills.
  • Project management skills working with various stakeholders with competing priorities.
  • Strong written & verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to travel internationally up to 10%, as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical expertise to the Basketball category team making early recommendations on footwear product construction techniques and creative upper/tooling solutions.
  • Collaborate with Functional Engineering, Design, Marketing, Innovation & Product Creation teams to provide direction for material choices, design and construction alleviating potential manufacturing or costing concerns.
  • Lead and manage functional engineering projects working with various team members from within and outside of Nike.
  • Partner with offshore teams to develop new material and fabrication processes/techniques.
  • Provide a multi-solution path approach and creative problem solving to deliver product excellence for consumers.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings and analyze process data to develop refined product specifications.
