About The Position

The Lead Food Service Assistant provides direction to food service staff, ensuring adherence to quality standards. Key responsibilities include monitoring and recording proper food temperatures, setting up and maintaining clean and sanitized serving areas, preparing and serving food items, restocking food areas, and cleaning and sanitizing equipment. The role also involves receiving payments for food and beverages using a computerized register. The assistant must comply with Hazardous Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) guidelines for food service, provide outstanding customer service, and effectively communicate with patrons and co-workers. The position requires the ability to establish effective working relationships and may involve operating various equipment such as grills, beverage machines, toasters, ice cream dispensers, cash registers, computerized cash registers, steam equipment, dishwashers, telephones, refrigerators, and freezers.

Requirements

  • Ability to read, write and follow oral and written directions
  • Ability to perform basic math
  • Displays experience working in the food industry
  • Possesses ability to work independently when necessary
  • Possesses an understanding of food safety and sanitation processes
  • Demonstrates ability to be on feet for the majority of the day and walk far distances
  • Depending on location, may be required to complete Diet Therapy Class and pass Diet Therapy exams
  • Depending upon location of hire, Serv Safe may be required to obtain within a designated time frame, typically one year

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • A minimum of two years experience in food service (depending upon location applying for)
  • Previous leadership experience
