About The Position

The Lead Floor Technician oversees the maintenance of both hard surface and carpeted floors in various areas, including offices, patient rooms, classrooms, corridors, lobbies, stairwells, cafeterias, and other public spaces. This role involves operating specialized equipment to perform tasks such as floor stripping, scrubbing, waxing, buffing, shampooing, and extraction. Additional responsibilities may include light maintenance duties, such as bulb changing, pressure washing, and snow removal, as well as general cleaning and grounds keeping.

Requirements

  • 2 to 4 years of floor care experience required.
  • Experience in hospital or K-12 facility settings is preferred.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • The ability to lift and carry 50 pounds.
  • The ability to work safely on stairs, ladders, and other lift platforms.
  • The ability to work after hours, weekends, and/or holidays when necessary.
  • This is an 'essential' position that may require working during inclement weather events.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of Floor Technicians, ensuring effective and safe operations.
  • Adhere to all safety procedures and guidelines while performing duties.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance checks on floor equipment prior to use.
  • Secure work areas and post appropriate safety notices.
  • Perform floor care tasks, including but not limited to, routine mopping, buffing, burnishing, scrubbing restrooms, and cleaning stairwells.
  • Vacuum, shampoo, bonnet, and extract carpets, stairwells, and upholstery.
  • Clean walls, dust high and low surfaces, and maintain cleanliness of restrooms and offices/classrooms.
  • Complete periodic cleaning and special maintenance tasks assigned by the supervisor.
  • Carry out light maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs and minor repairs.
  • Maintain floor care equipment and ensure it is in proper working condition.
  • Operate company vehicles to transport cleaning equipment and supplies.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
