About The Position

The part-time Lead Fitness Attendant is a dynamic leadership role responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the fitness facility, ensuring a safe, clean, and enjoyable experience for all members. As a Lead, you will supervise a team of fitness attendants, provide guidance and support to staff, and act as a liaison between the fitness team and management. The role involves providing world-class customer service, maintaining equipment, and ensuring that fitness & wellness programs run smoothly. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; degree in a related field (e.g., Exercise Science, Kinesiology) preferred.
  • Certification in CPR and First Aid required (additional fitness certifications like ACE, NASM, or ISSA are a plus).
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a fitness environment, with at least 6 months in a supervisory or leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of fitness equipment, gym operations, and health & safety protocols.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure.
  • Enthusiastic and motivated with a passion for fitness and helping others achieve their wellness goals.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, walk, and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Comfortable working in a physically demanding environment with the need for manual labor (e.g., moving equipment, cleaning).
  • Must have the physical stamina to actively engage with members on the fitness floor.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, train, and motivate a team of fitness attendants to ensure exceptional service and operational efficiency.
  • Assign daily tasks to fitness attendants and monitor performance to meet the facility’s standards.
  • Serve as a mentor and role model for the team, demonstrating professional conduct and excellence in customer service
  • Ensure members receive world-class customer service by addressing their needs, concerns, and inquiries promptly and professionally.
  • Greet members and guests, providing assistance with equipment, facilities, and programs.
  • Monitor the fitness floor to ensure a safe environment for members and resolve any issues that arise.
  • Oversee the cleanliness and organization of the fitness center, including gym floors, locker rooms, restrooms, and equipment areas.
  • Perform regular checks on fitness equipment to ensure proper functioning, reporting any issues to maintenance as necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations, including the cleaning and sanitization of equipment.
  • Assist in the implementation and promotion of fitness programs and events (e.g., group classes, personal training, wellness initiatives).
  • Ensure that all members are informed about upcoming programs and events and help with class or session scheduling.
  • Ensure adherence to all fitness center safety policies, including emergency procedures and first aid protocols.
  • Conduct regular safety audits of the facility and report hazards to management immediately.
  • Enforce the gym’s policies regarding equipment usage, attire, and member behavior.
  • Assist with administrative duties such as tracking attendance, managing member feedback, and completing daily shift reports.
  • Help with scheduling staff shifts and coordinating coverage during peak times or absences.
  • Maintain accurate records of staff training, safety checks, and maintenance logs.
  • Assisting management with club website, POS, and anything fitness, health, and wellness related.
