Requirements

  • Basic knowledge of national and local alarm codes including NFPA 72, NEC, & California Building Code
  • Must be able to demonstrate responsibility in being on time, regular consistent work attendance, good communication and completing all necessary field documentation as needed
  • Must have a valid State Fire Marshal (SFM) Fire/Life Safety Technician Certification Card “Blue Card”
  • The ability to carry and climb step/extension ladders where needed and lift objects up to 50 pounds when needed
  • HS Diploma or GED
  • 5+ years of experience with servicing fire alarm systems or NICET II
  • Valid Driver Licenses and acceptable driving record
  • Must be able to demonstrate basic computer/tablet skills

Nice To Haves

  • NICET Certification
  • Manufacturer certifications preferred (ex. Siemens, Notifier, Honeywell, Bosch)
  • FASA/BASA
  • 10+ years of Fire Alarm Installation Experience

Responsibilities

  • Install, program, and test fire alarm and life safety systems in accordance with applicable codes, standards, and manufacturer requirements.
  • Supervise installation crews, assigning tasks and ensuring quality, safety, and efficiency on all job sites.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and system schematics to determine equipment placement and wiring methods.
  • Troubleshoot and repair system wiring, devices, and programming issues to ensure proper functionality and compliance.
  • Perform system inspections and testing in accordance with NFPA, state, and local requirements.
  • Train and mentor junior technicians, providing on-the-job guidance and technical instruction.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety protocols, company procedures, and quality standards.
  • Maintain accurate documentation including installation records, system configurations, and as-built drawings.
  • Communicate effectively with customers to explain system operation, testing results, and any required follow-up work.
  • Coordinate with project managers, electricians, and general contractors to ensure proper project scheduling and integration with other trades.
