About The Position

CHA Consulting, Inc. is seeking a Lead Fire Alarm Project Technician to join our Fire Protection Services Team in Cullman, AL and serve as a trusted technical expert. In this pivotal role, you’ll support high‑impact fire alarm projects and ensure critical life‑safety systems perform when it matters most.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; AS/BS degree preferred
  • Minimum of 10 years of fire alarm programming and inspection experience required
  • Comprehensive knowledge of NFPA and NEC codes, standards, and industry best practices
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a customer‑focused mindset
  • Electrical construction knowledge and proficiency in reviewing drawings, specifications, and standards
  • Ability to support cost estimating process for client projects
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office required
  • Ability to work in challenging environments, including heights, confined spaces, varied weather, and physically demanding conditions
  • Team‑oriented with the ability to lead and work independently
  • Willingness to travel extensively—approximately 180 days per year, including international travel
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • NICET III Fire Alarm certification required
  • Secret clearance current with ability to obtain Top Secret security clearance with Diplomatic Security (DS) required

Responsibilities

  • Lead programming, startup, and coordination of complex fire alarm systems—including Notifier, Mircom, and Siemens—to ensure seamless, reliable operation
  • Conduct the inspection and testing of commercial and industrial fire alarm systems in accordance with NFPA 72 and safety procedures
  • Coordinate with general contractors, local workforce, and site security to ensure proper installation and efficient execution
  • Plan, perform, and coordinate periodic inspections, tests, and repairs, preparing thorough records and reports for compliance
  • Coordinate testing procedures and requirements with site maintenance staff and related traders to perform inspection and testing, in accordance with NFPA 72 requirements
  • Compare shop drawings to field conditions, produce accurate redline documents, and uphold safety and code compliance across project phases
