About The Position

The Lead Financial Counselor is responsible for role modeling for the counselors in accordance with the established standards of care, mental health practice, and facility policy, goals, and objectives. This position contributes to the hospital’s philosophy, objectives, educational and quality improvement efforts, while providing guidance to the Financial Counselors. Supervising the provision of the Financial Counselors through performance audits and reviews. Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in finance, business administration, or a related field, and a Master's degree may be preferred.
  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in financial counseling, with at least 2 years in a managerial role
  • Additional Skill Requirements: Strong interpersonal and communication skills are crucial

Responsibilities

  • Distribute verifications daily
  • Provide coverage when short-staffed.
  • Assist with VOB Audit accounts to ensure patients were spoken to and all paperwork was completed
  • Train staff
  • Keep the upfront collection log up to date
  • Answer all questions from the counselor
  • Ensure patients are met at admission and discharge
  • Maintain the SR spreadsheet
  • Respond to patient voicemails
  • Flash report coverage when the collection lead is absent
