About The Position

At TOMRA our reverse vending machines help millions of people recycle every day – and as we continue to grow across the UK, we’re looking for an experienced Lead Field Service Engineer to help install and keep our systems running at their best. This is a hands-on, field-based role with real variety, responsibility, and the opportunity to support and mentor others as our UK service team scales. As a Lead Field Service Engineer, you’ll be the face of TOMRA at customer sites across the UK. You’ll install, maintain, and repair our reverse vending machines, ensuring excellent uptime and customer experience. Once fully trained, you’ll also play a key role in supporting and onboarding new technicians, acting as a technical escalation point within the team. The role involves regular UK travel, with overnight stays and visits to service hubs or offices.

Requirements

  • Strong electro-mechanical experience , with the ability to analyse, test, and repair mechanical or electro systems
  • A practical, solutions-focused mindset and strong attention to detail
  • Confidence working independently in the field and managing your own workload
  • A customer-first approach with clear and professional communication skills
  • Full UK driving lisence (max. 3 points)
  • Flexibility to travel extensively across the UK

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with reverse vending machines or similar automated equipment is an advantage, but not essential – full training will be provided.
  • Previous experience supporting or training others is also beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Installing, maintaining, and repairing TOMRA reverse vending machines at customer sites
  • Diagnosing and troubleshooting mechanical and electrical faults to minimise downtime
  • Carrying out both corrective and preventive maintenance visits
  • Supporting installation and commissioning of new systems once trained
  • Acting as a technical escalation point and sharing best practice with the wider team
  • Supporting the onboarding and training of new technicians as the team grows
  • Auditing on-site work and ensuring high service standards
  • Managing tools, spares, and van stock in line with inventory requirements
  • Accurately recording work completed in our ERP system (IFS)
  • Building strong relationships with customers, including retailers and shopping centres
  • Shift or weekend work may be required as the service organisation continues to expand.
