About The Position

Operates and monitors oil, water and gas production and distribution facilities, typically Upstream facilities from wells to primary separation and processing, and Midstream distribution/storage facilities (pipelines/terminals). Monitors process variables, troubleshoots, and performs interventions to maintain operating performance. Performs work of medium complexity and may assist on projects. Receives close supervision only on non-routine and critical aspects of work. General knowledge of Chevron policies and processes. Base Assets & Emerging Countries Business Unit is accepting online applications for the position of Oilfield Operator through February 1st at 11:59 p.m. PST. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver's license
  • Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills
  • 5+ years demonstrated experience in oil and gas operations, federal and local reporting requirements, and all regulatory programs associated with oil and gas operations in California and Kern County
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Demonstrated strong teamwork skills and the ability to proactively work with cross-functional teams
  • Demonstrated strong leadership and mentoring skills and capabilities
  • Demonstrated proficiency in managing safe operations and following MSW procedures for high H2S concentrations

Responsibilities

  • Diagnoses malfunctions and directs necessary repairs, modifications, and calibrations of equipment used in production operations with the Production Supervisors' guidance and support.
  • Shares recognized technical expertise with Field Specialists.
  • Assist Production Team members in analyzing and monitoring well performance as well as OPEX and production goals.
  • Can assist the Production Team by focusing on performance targets with team members for the Production Supervisor.
  • At the discretion of the Production Supervisor, can support the PSO with specific aspects of training and guidance to contract and company personnel on the appropriate work methods, equipment functions, and safe practices when in potential H2S environments.
  • Float across various team routes and can backfill operating those routes as needed for relief or when additional resources are required.
  • Coach and lead by example, all junior Field Specialists on MSW processes as well as SYLA/SWC.
  • Participate in all FOT critical meetings (WRO, Weekly Technical Team update meeting, Monthly MOC review meeting, etc.).
  • Be able to backfill for Production Specialist Operations when needed.
  • This position requires driving on a routine basis.
