About The Position

The Lead AUV Field Engineer – Field Service Representative (FSR) to spearhead the operation, maintenance, and support of Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs) and associated auxiliary equipment. This is a leadership position that requires a high degree of technical expertise, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage complex projects in demanding environments. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for overseeing AUV operations, providing expert troubleshooting and maintenance, and delivering exceptional customer support.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 9 years of relevant experience, OR (Preferred) 12+ years of technical experience in a relevant field (US Navy ET, ST, MN, EM ratings or commercial maritime electronics).Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Active SECRET clearance required.
  • Demonstrated physical ability to work on swaying vessel decks, navigate confined spaces, and lift 50 lbs.
  • Proven foundational seamanship skills including knot tying, line handling, and deck safety.

  • Comprehensive experience in the US Navy or as a defense contractor working alongside military personnel.
  • Exceptional situational awareness and problem-solving capability in high-pressure environments.
  • Commercial maritime experience (deckhand, mate, or technician) with leadership responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated leadership in marine technology or related systems, with a track record of managing complex projects and teams.

Responsibilities

  • Lead operation of AUVs in diverse and challenging environments, including commercial and military vessels.
  • Direct the troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of electrical, mechanical, and software sensors/systems/subsystems associated with AUVs.
  • Serve as the primary Subject Matter Expert (SME) for customers, providing on-site support, hands-on training, acceptance testing, risk mitigation, and ensuring alignment with overall program/project objectives.
  • Supervise deck operations, including small boat handling, line handling, and the operation of Launch and Recovery Systems (LARS) from RHIBs and naval vessels.
  • Oversee the mechanical assembly/disassembly of AUV modules and seal integrity checks.
  • Conduct advanced mission planning and validation, ensuring successful flight behaviors and operational efficiency.
  • Provide technical assistance outside of normal business hours via phone, email, and remote desktop sessions.
  • Maintain and develop comprehensive AUV product documentation and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Develop and verify customer specifications, conduct operator training, and actively participate as an L3Harris AUV System field service representative during demonstrations and field exercises with existing and prospective customers.
  • Lead field exercises for up to 6 weeks, ensuring successful deployment and customer satisfaction.
  • Interface with customers on behalf of L3Harris AUV Systems Engineering and Program Management teams, delivering superior customer service and technical expertise.
  • Capable of extensive travel (US and International) up to 60%.
