About The Position

Works under the supervision of the museum system's Administrative Coordinator. Performs routine cleaning and maintenance of the museum facilities and grounds (where applicable). Additionally coordinates with the Administrative Coordinator regarding the scheduling, training, and overall work performance of the Facilities Technicians in order to ensure timely and effective completion of maintenance and care of the museum system facilities. Responsible for monitoring and providing services for public and private events in the museum's rental facilities and areas. Required to work a flexible schedule including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. Trains and supervises custodial staff as needed. Inspects and maintains assigned custodial equipment and small tools. May assist with minor repairs to facility and equipment. Opens and closes facilities as needed. Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with other employees, officials, and all members of the general public, applying excellent customer service skills. Operates City vehicles to transport equipment and run errands. Keeps records as required by the City or museum system. Attendance at work is an essential function of this position. NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES: May serve on various employee committees, as required and assigned. Requirements

  • Graduation from high school or GED equivalent and a minimum of one (1) year experience in a custodial related field.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Ability to obtain valid New Mexico license with in 30 days of hire.
  • Working knowledge of equipment, materials and supplies used in building maintenance.
  • Working knowledge of equipment and supplies used for minor repairs.
  • Knowledge of first aid and applicable safety precautions.
  • Ability to follow verbal and or written instructions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Ability to operate tools and equipment listed.
  • Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, other City personnel and the public.
  • Ability to deal with high pressure and difficult situations in an appropriate and professional manner.
  • Ability to work a varied shift schedule.
  • Ability to operate a personal computer and perform basic operations and file maintenance, using applications such as MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • This position is subject to the City of Farmington's Drug and Alcohol Free Workplace Policy which includes: pre-employment testing, post-accident testing, random testing, reasonable suspicion testing, return to duty testing, and follow-up testing.
  • Attendance at work is an essential function of this position.
