About The Position

The Facilities Technician I is responsible for ensuring that the property is in excellent condition for guest and associates by acting as the lead Facilities Technician and answering any questions or needs from the team. Under the direction of the Facilities Supervisor and General Manager, you would be responsible for maintaining all equipment, systems and building components, including, but not limited to, mechanical and electrical systems, pumps, HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, locks, furniture, paint, wall coverings, tile and other equipment.

Requirements

Sufficient education and literacy needed to identify and read product labels and to communicate with guests
Ability to read, write, speak, understand, and communicate in basic English preferred
Knowledge of computers and ability to process work tickets.
Mechanical or technical experience in building maintenance is heavily preferred
Customer service experience is required; all technicians must be able and willing to interact with guests.
3-5 years of building maintenance experience required
Detail-oriented and thorough
Ability to perform consistent work to the highest of standards
Ability to remain discreet and respect the privacy of guests
Ability to interact with guests in a pleasant, friendly way
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills
Ability to effectively and efficiently lead a team
Must be able to multi-task with jobs, radio and guest interactions
Must be able to interpret a variety of instructions
Possess strong working knowledge of heating, cooling, and pumping systems
Possess strong plumbing knowledge
Must be very well versed in electrical applications and safety
Should have a working knowledge of appliances
General maintenance experience with general paint and carpentry
Frequent bending, standing, stopping, walking, kneeling, crouching, pushing, and pulling
Ability to lift 50 lbs
Occasional climbing of ladders and stairs
Indoor and outdoor
Exposure to extreme heat and or cold depending on season
Exposure to power tools and potentially broken electrical equipment
Exposure to chemicals (with proper PPE)

Responsibilities

Directly assist the Facilities Supervisor
Act as a liaison between the Facilities Supervisor and facilities tech team
Maintain high moral within the Facilities Team
Answer any inquiries or questions from the Facilities Team
Demonstrate teamwork responsiveness when asked to do any task consistent with hotel standards.
Work independently while completing various maintenance tasks in guest rooms and hotel buildings including but not limited to minor plumbing, electrical, HVAC, painting, furniture assembly, etc. as needed
Troubleshooting and repairs of low-level plumbing, HVAC, painting and sheet rock repair
Assist in troubleshooting issues that require a skilled maintenance repair or contractor repair
Carry out routine checks and maintenance work for the assigned areas
Conduct room care preventative maintenance as directed
Update work order tickets and record in system according to company procedures
Communicate with departments and other relevant parties for work orders
Respond to work orders quickly and resolve timely
Maintaining the documentation of all daily logs, reading, and building inspection programs
Adhere to hotel work order system including prioritization
Achieve and maintain a quality guest room product according to hotel standards
Possess thorough knowledge of all equipment in your department
Maintain strict compliance of hotel's Hazardous Material (HAZMAT) program, including maintaining current MSDS
Observe all department rules, regulations, and dress code
Ensure safety and security throughout the hotel
Maintaining all exterior grounds, parking areas, and public access areas
All other duties assigned
