About The Position

The Museum of Tolerance (MOT) seeks a Full-Time Facilitator (FTF) for Tools for Tolerance® – Law Enforcement to serve as the day-of lead for program delivery and the primary point of contact for external consultant facilitators. The FTF ensures that all law enforcement programs are implemented with fidelity to MOT EDU’s pedagogy and meet California POST (Peace Officer Standards and Training) requirements. They are responsible for making sure agendas, slide decks, and facilitation are consistent, high-quality, and aligned with partner goals. In addition to delivery, the FTF leads external facilitator development by mentoring, calibrating, and observing facilitators; designing mini PD sessions; and helping surface professional development needs to the Assistant Director and Senior Director. The FTF also works closely with the Program Manager to ensure agency partner satisfaction and to proactively identify opportunities for follow-up and further engagement. This role requires both strong facilitation skills and a deep understanding of museum education best practices, adult experiential learning, and law enforcement training standards.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of significant facilitation experience with law enforcement/public safety professionals or adult learners.
  • Strong knowledge of California POST standards and ability to ensure compliance across program delivery.
  • Skilled in museum education best practices, dialogue-based facilitation, and adult experiential learning.
  • Experience mentoring, observing, and training facilitators.
  • Strong organizational skills; adept at managing agendas, materials, and program logistics.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to build credibility with external consultants and agency partners.
  • Commitment to MOT EDU’s Core Values: Integrity, Intellectual Rigor & Ethical Inquiry, Resilient & Sustainable Work Culture, Visible & Structural Integrity, and Adaptive & Responsive Evolution.

  • Provide a final review of agendas, materials, and facilitator readiness as a quality and compliance check for AD and PM.
  • Ensure external facilitators have what they need (materials, context, guidance) prior to and during program delivery.
  • Step in as lead facilitator when necessary, modeling MOT EDU’s museum-based pedagogy and dialogue-based learning.
  • Collect and manage surveys, rosters, and other program evaluation data.
  • Act as the day-of point of contact for agency partner questions, ensuring responsiveness and smooth operations.
  • Serve as the lead contact for all external consultant facilitators, coordinating scheduling, communication, curriculum updates, and logistical needs.
  • Provide regular updates on department initiatives, program expectations, and curricular revisions.
  • Observe facilitators during delivery, offering coaching and feedback to ensure alignment with MOT EDU pedagogy and POST requirements.
  • Partner with AD and SD to identify facilitator development priorities.
  • Design and lead mini PD sessions, peer mentorship opportunities, and observation cycles for facilitators.
  • Support and model during larger facilitator PD programs, serving as a trainer and mentor.
  • Act as the final compliance and alignment checkpoint for program agendas, slide decks, and facilitator assignments.
  • Ensure that all programs meet California POST standards, while also maintaining fidelity to MOT EDU’s pedagogy and values.
  • Surface facilitator performance or skill gaps to AD and SD, recommending training or mentorship interventions.
  • Help shape facilitator professional development priorities in alignment with both MOT EDU pedagogy and POST requirements.
  • Collaborate with the Program Manager to ensure agency partner satisfaction during and after programs.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for follow-up programming or services, supporting the PM in positioning them with agencies.
