About The Position

The position involves overall planning and management of estimating activities for specific construction projects, focusing on the preparation, interpretation, and presentation of estimates. The role requires leadership in estimating pursuits, mentoring junior staff, and ensuring accurate and timely estimates for various construction projects.

Requirements

• Engineering, Construction Management, or Architectural degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum 3 years estimating or related experience.
• Ability to read and understand specifications, drawings, and BIM Models.
• Ability to make accurate judgments and calculate associated risks.
• Proficiency in estimating software such as Excel, Bluebeam, Revit, Destini, or other programs.

Responsibilities

• Leads one or more estimate/budget/pursuit activities while supporting others on estimating pursuits.
• Mentors one or more estimating staff.
• Diagnoses errors, scope, and exclusions in subcontractor estimates quickly and accurately.
• Reviews, prepares, and reviews quantity take-offs.
• Trains and develops Intern and Interim Project Engineers.
• Maintains historical costs and prepares customized subcontracting bidders lists for the correct type of job.
• Builds and maintains great relationships with trade partners.
• Assists jobsite staff with estimating support.
• Prepares accurate quantity takeoffs and material pricing.
• Prepares conceptual estimates and subcontractors bid lists.
• Leads and participates in bid day compilation.
• Generates high-level VE/VM logs with accuracy.
• Follows bid schedules and realigns deliverable dates with minimal impact using the Estimate Checklist.
• Builds consensus on applied fee strategy and reviews subcontractor prequalification on prospective trade partners.
• Drafts the first pass at General Conditions and General Requirements, setting up and reviewing them with the Operations team.
• Generates scope sheets for all CSI divisions and conducts GO / NO GO for Swinerton self-perform trades.
• Supports and trains estimating staff as applicable and assists with post-bid buyouts.
