Responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, comfortable, attractive environment adhering to established policies and procedures, quality assurance program(s), safety, environmental and infection control standards. Responsible for day-to-day activities of the department in the absence of the supervisor and on weekends, evenings, and holidays. Issues, and is accountable for collection of department keys and pagers. Responsible for answering department pages, telephone, and cell phone calls promptly as well as courteously. Inspects equipment and notifies manager of needed repairs. Instructs personnel on the correct cleaning procedures for chemicals and equipment. Sets-up meeting rooms for general meetings and special functions. Performs floor and carpet care. Collects trash and soiled linen. Collects/stores/transports biohazardous waste containers. Responsible for routine inspection of areas worked to ensure that all necessary cleaning in the area has been performed to department standards. Calls people to work to fill positions of staff who have called in sick. Orders, distributes, and stocks clean linen. Helps maintain inventory of equipment and supplies to meet department need. Responsible for utilization of appropriate work practices commensurate with working with neonates, pediatrics, adolescents, young adults, mature adults, older adults and psychiatric patients. Speak and read English at a level that is sufficient to satisfactorily perform the essential functions of the position. Knowledge of standard office equipment (i.e., calculator, fax, photocopier) and personal computer and computer software skills (i.e., MS Windows, Excel, Access, Word, Powerpoint, internet, e-mail). Windows computer skills including proficient use of keyboarding, use of mouse or keys for functions such as selecting items, use of drop down menus, scroll bars, opening folders, copying and similar operations required upon employment or within the 1st two weeks of employment to perform the essential functions of the job.
