Requirements

  • A commitment to safe work practices is expected from all team members.
  • Proven experience managing multiple projects and delivering high-quality results is required.
  • Bachelor’s and/or advanced degree in Applied Science (Engineering, Geology, or Science)
  • Maintain professional designations or licenses (Engineer, Geologist, etc.) where applicable
  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in contaminated site investigation and remediation
  • Experience leading and mentoring teams specializing in data analysis and remediation of contaminated sites
  • Proven experience preparing regulatory work plans and reports for investigation, remediation, and closure
  • Proven project and client management skills, including supervising and directing people and resources to achieve results

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and review performance against HSE KPIs and patterns of behavior; take action to improve performance and resolve noncompliance.
  • Promote a behavior-based safety culture and participate in continuous improvement, including occasional after-hours emergency response.
  • Manage a portfolio of environmental investigation and remediation projects while reporting to senior colleagues.
  • Provide technical project management and direction, ensuring projects are delivered safely, within scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Lead proposal development and contract negotiation to win targeted pursuits that leverage GHD’s capabilities and value proposition.
  • Maintain high external profile through client engagement, industry membership, and continual networking.
  • Support key client relationships, ensuring satisfaction and effective communication of technical information.
  • Assist senior colleagues in managing important client relationships and oversee relationships with transactional clients.
  • Act as a subject matter expert in environmental investigations and remediation, mentoring high-functioning teams.
  • Maintain external accreditations and stay current on U.S. EPA and state environmental regulations (with emphasis on Michigan), as well as industry best practices.
  • Provide informal training or coaching to colleagues to build organizational capability.
  • Participate in communities of practice to share expertise and develop innovative approaches.
  • Engage in active participation to develop personal expertise and promote knowledge-sharing within the team.
  • Apply complex problem-solving skills to environmental investigations and remediation strategies.
  • Identify and evaluate technical and regulatory solutions to meet client compliance needs.
  • Conduct hydrogeologic assessment and site characterization for soil, soil vapor, indoor air, and groundwater.
  • Oversee environmental risk management processes to minimize detrimental impacts.
  • Coordinate elements of environmental impact assessments, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Gather information and resources, draft proposals, and fulfill all requirements to maximize success in bid solicitations, RFPs, and tenders.
