This role involves acting as a key point of contact between the company and regulatory agencies, facilitating communication, and ensuring that all environmental practices align with local, state, and federal regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Policy, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in environmental compliance or regulatory affairs, preferably within the utility sector.
  • Strong knowledge of environmental regulations and policies at local, state, and federal levels.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, experience with public speaking and community engagement is a plus.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and environmental management software.
  • This position may require occasional travel to various sites and regulatory offices.
  • Ability to work in both office and field environments

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in environmental management or compliance (e.g., LEED, ISO 14001) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary liaison between National Grid and environmental regulatory agencies.
  • Monitor and interpret environmental regulations and policies that impact the company’s operations.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with regulatory officials and stakeholders.
  • Prepare and submit necessary environmental reports, permits, and documentation to regulatory agencies.
  • Manage licensing and permitting processes to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to develop and implement environmental management strategies.
  • Provide training and guidance to staff on environmental compliance and best practices.
  • Stay updated on changes in environmental legislation and assess their impact on company operations.
  • Assist in the development of environmental initiatives and programs.
  • Manage Compliance, Licensing and Permitting projects.
