The Lead Engineer for System Protection and Control (SP&C) will be responsible for SP&C Substation designs for the New England Clean Energy Connect (NECEC) portfolio in Maine. This includes input into standards and training needs, overseeing Owners Engineering design reviews for the SP&C Scope related to the NECEC Project, defining P&C criteria, equipment standards, and settings, as well as supporting all commissioning activities for the NECEC project. The position reports to the Manager – NECEC ST, TL, HVDC TL, and will work day-to-day in a cross-functional project team to support project needs as dictated by the project manager.

Oversee NECEC engineering performance including all phases such as scoping and budgeting, conceptual engineering, contract management and design, engineering design, construction, and closeout.
Perform standard and complex electrical engineering analyses, designs, and calculations using standard methodology and principles.
Develop alternate methods or design concepts to resolve problems or improve processes/services.
Lead and create new conceptual designs and oversee the work of external detailed designers.
Solve unique and complex electrical engineering problems and analyze possible solutions using standard procedures related to lines and power engineering.
Ensure all engineering designs implemented meet applicable company, local, state, and national codes and standards.

Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering required.
Master’s Degree preferred.
Minimum of 8 years relevant experience.
Professional Engineering License preferred.
Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
Proven ability to lead and manage projects.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of the regulatory environment including relevant output and incentive mechanisms.
General contract, commercial, and regulatory awareness.

Experience in a relevant engineering role within a utility environment.
Knowledge of SP&C standards in accordance with regulatory requirements.
Expertise in SP&C Engineering standards and specifications up to 345kV.
