About The Position

Join our Steam Turbine (ST) CM&U team to develop service solutions and lead engineering through complex Conversion, Modification & Uprate projects. In this ITR (Inquiry to Remittance) role, you will create technical solutions in ITO (Inquiry to Order) and manage engineering execution in OTR (Order to Remittance). You will work in a fast-paced, diverse fleet environment—partnering with internal and external customers, thinking critically and creatively, and applying technical and project management skills to deliver results. You will start with a focus in either Application (ITO) or Requisition (OTR) engineering, then expand into broader ITR scope as you grow and business needs evolve. Job Description Roles and Responsibilities ITO (Inquiry to Order) - under the supervision of senior team members, and with increasing self-sufficiency over time: Translate customer needs into clear requirements and winning Steam Turbine CM&U proposals that improve Customer value, through improvements in performance, reliability, flexibility, etc. Scope and estimate work with Sales, Commercial, Engineering, Project Management, Compliance, Sourcing, Product Line, and Field teams; define assumptions, risks, and deliverables. Serve as technical point of contact in customer discussions; capture the Voice of the Customer and feed it into GEV solutions. Perform turbine and balance‑of‑plant studies and document recommendations. Contribute to Lean, continuous improvement, and quality initiatives. OTR (Order to Remittance)- under the supervision of senior team members, and with increasing self-sufficiency over time: Execute engineering projects for ST CM&U orders from release to delivery, meeting scope, schedule, cost, and quality targets. Plan and drive engineering schedules; manage engineering hours; identify risks and recovery plans to keep deliverables on time. Own configuration and Bill of Material structure: create part lines, define parts, and coordinate ordering with Sourcing and suppliers. Author Field Modification Instructions; support installation planning, outage execution, and resolve technical field issues promptly. Interface between Project Management and engineering; communicate status, decisions, and changes to stakeholders. Uphold safety, quality, and compliance requirements; maintain accurate technical records.

Requirements

  • BS in Mechanical, Aerospace, Electrical, or related engineering with at least 6 years (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 10 years) of experience in Technical/Customer Engineering)
  • Strong fundamentals in thermodynamics/heat transfer and mechanical design; ability to learn steam turbine systems, accessories, balance of plant (BOP), and controls
  • Clear written and verbal communication in English

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to steam turbine CM&U or new‑unit projects; Alstom or GE ST configurations a plus
  • Experience with applications/proposals (ITO) and/or requisitions/execution (OTR)
  • Familiarity with configuration/BOMs, ERP tools, and technical documentation (e.g., Field Modification Instructions)
  • Understanding of manufacturing and service/outage practices
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deliver to commitments in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; collaborative working style
  • Ability to collaborate with US based teams and customers with core hours overlapping US Eastern time
  • Experience working with global, matrixed teams and contributing to continuous improvement
  • Willingness to travel up to 10%, sometimes on short notice
