This Lead Engineer, Product Configuration will be responsible for maintaining and managing product configuration data across Engineering, Operations and Sales business systems. The Lead Engineer, Product Configuration will support Design Engineering, Product Management & Operations in ensuring product configuration and configuration rules are accurately represented in respective systems. This position will support Business technology in identifying and implementing process automations and system integrations. This role will also facilitate the engineering estimates as part of the quoting process including timely implementation of configuration modification as the result of Engineering Change Notices. This position will support the development of scope and direction for projects pertaining to enhancements to PLM, ERP and CPQ.

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • Minimum 8 years of experience, 10 years of product design experience preferred
  • Working knowledge in 2D/3D CAD design software (Inventor, CATIA, SolidWorks, Creo)
  • Significant experience with complex, configurable, industrial products
  • Problem solving skills, root cause analysis, and corrective action experience
  • Experience in Bill of Material creation and Change Notice processes

Nice To Haves

  • Design experience in electrical components or equipment within the energy industry preferred
  • Design experience with programming languages and controls software preferred

Responsibilities

  • Develops the design scope and timeline for their discipline within engineering projects.
  • Responsible for meeting project requirements and timelines
  • Research, create, and update engineering design standards to promote best practices.
  • Supports the design of mechanical components and sub-systems for power/low voltage products including component selection, general layouts, assembly design and installation.
  • Studies and understands related government and industry standards that govern the products being developed.
  • Produce relevant documentation needed to meet project goals, mechanical layouts, mechanical component prints, mechanical assemblies, and compliance documents.
  • Interacts with the Engineering, Product Management, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Industrial Engineering staff on a regular basis.
  • Participate and present technical information during design meetings or reviews.
  • Supports the creation of 2D prints and 3D models at a system level
  • Help develop product Bill of Material structures to allow for modularity and configurability of products.
  • Reviews Bills of Materials and Change Notices to release components and assemblies.
  • Support costing activities to ensure pricing targets are achieved at the project level.
  • Supports service, aftermarket, and installation teams as needed.
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
