About The Position

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Process Development Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for leading the implementation and optimization of manufacturing processes to enhance product quality, reduce costs, and improve overall operational efficiency. This role will specifically focus on managing New Product Industrialization (NPI) and Continuous Improvement (CI) projects. Acting as the primary interface for internal customers, the Lead Process Development Engineer leads cross-functional teams, assuring disciplined project governance, adherence to GE Vernova’s EHS (Environment, Health, and Safety), Quality, and Compliance standards, and a strong balance of strategic leadership and operational execution. Success in this position means delivering projects safely, with high quality, on time, and on budget, while maintaining high levels of trust and satisfaction. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Chemical), Supply Chain Management, or a related field from an accredited university or college with at least 4 years of relevant engineering experience (manufacturing, process development, process engineering)
  • Or Master's Degree with 2 years of relevant engineering experience (manufacturing, process development, process engineering).
  • Must have 2 years' experience in project management.
  • Eligibility Requirements This role requires use of technical data subject to U.S. Government export restrictions and this posting is only for U.S. Persons (U.S. Citizens, lawful permanent residents and protected individuals (e.g., certain refugees and asylees)). GE will require proof of status prior to employment
  • This is a 100% onsite position.
  • Intermittent travel approximately 1-2 times a month to Allentown, PA and/or other sites as needed.
  • Must be able for work occasional off shift/weekend support as required to support a 3-shift operation.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degree in Engineering or related field.
  • Understanding of electrochemical machining (ECM), electrical discharge machining (EDM), and conventional machining processes.
  • Certification in Lean Six Sigma or similar continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Project Management Certification (CAPM, PMP, ACP, CSM).
  • Demonstrated success in leading cross-functional teams and driving organizational change.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to process improvement.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. If applicable, final offers will be contingent on ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government.

Responsibilities

  • NPI and CI Project Management: Manage New Product Industrialization (NPI) and Continuous Improvement (CI) projects from inception to completion.
  • Create and manage project schedules through established tollgates, ensuring milestones are met and projects stay on track.
  • Lead regular project reviews with internal stakeholders on project progress, challenges, and achievements.
  • Connect stakeholders across departments to ensure alignment and collaboration throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Process Design and Development: Oversee the conceptualization and design of new manufacturing processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure process feasibility and alignment with business objectives.
  • Develop detailed process documentation, including standard operating procedures (SOPs) and process flow diagrams.
  • Vendor Interaction and Capital Procurement: Interact with vendors to source new equipment, materials, and technologies required for process development.
  • Assist in capital procurement processes, including budgeting, justification, and approval of necessary resources.
  • NPI Standard Work and Engineering Documentation: Create and adhere to NPI standard work to ensure consistency and quality in new product launches.
  • Develop comprehensive engineering documentation to support process implementation and maintenance.
  • Process Optimization and Auditing: Identify opportunities for process improvement and lead initiatives to enhance efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Utilize data-driven approaches to analyze process performance and implement continuous improvement strategies.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and provide regular reports on process effectiveness.
  • Audit existing processes to identify areas for enhancement and ensure compliance with standards.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including Operations, Quality, Maintenance, EHS, Lean, and Engineering teams to align process development efforts with organizational goals.
  • Liaise with external partners and suppliers to integrate new technologies and best practices into process designs.
  • Proactively identify, escalate, and resolve project risks to support overall business results.
