The role is responsible for the electric system Protection and Control scope of substation projects in New York (NYSEG). Will work as part of a team made of Project Managers, Construction Managers, Civil and Electrical Engineers. Will engage with stakeholders to define Protection and Control requirements specific to projects which may be new (greenfield) or existing (brownfield). Will work on multiple projects simultaneously. Responsible for conceptual relay one-line diagrams, integration one-line diagrams, communication diagrams, System Protection Requirements documents and Detailed Design RFP. Familiar with and able to create a Protection and Control Bill of Material and assist with procurement of equipment. Responsible for the review and approval of a detailed design provided by an external engineering firm to ensure all protection system standards and designs meet applicable company, local, state, and national codes and standards (IEC, IEEE, NESC, FERC, NERC, NPCC, NYISO, ISO-NE, and NY PSC). Responsible for the review and accuracy of materials lists. Responsible to ensure that the design meets the intent of the scope of the project. Consult and guide for project team on protection engineering for electric transmission and substation system protection projects to ensure system reliability and safety. Guide engineering studies to evaluate equipment, system effectiveness, and protection system operations. Works in an office environment with the project team and is expected to be in office five days per week.
