About The Position

The Micro-Sensor Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for project execution, lab equipment maintenance, and designing and deploying novel applications for GE’s future of flight tests. You will be working hands-on in a collaborative team to learn and apply microfabrication design expertise and integrate sensor systems into next-generation engines. You will be working closely with scientists, engineers, interns and laboratory personnel to ensure on-time customer delivery of projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Advanced degree in engineering and/or physical sciences from an accredited university or college
  • Minimum of 3 years of physical vapor deposition (PVD) experience
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.
  • This role requires the successful candidate to maintain a US Government Security Clearance; prerequisite for a security clearance is U.S. Citizenship.
  • Preference will be given to candidates who currently hold US Government Security Clearance
  • This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. Therefore, employment will be contingent upon the ability to prove that you meet the status of a U.S. Person as one of the following: U.S. lawful permanent resident, U.S. Citizen, have been granted asylee or refugee status (i.e., a protected individual under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)).

Nice To Haves

  • Hands-on experience with photolithography or similar precision patterning processing.
  • Hands-on experience with PVD systems and processing.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.
  • Good understanding of the physics and chemistry related to physical vapor deposition processing, most notably sputter deposition.
  • Understanding of physics and chemistry related to photolithographic processing.
  • Experience in a wet chemical lab and/or cleanroom environment (i.e.. semiconductor, thin film deposition, etc).
  • Experience developing thin and thick film processes on complex contour substrates.
  • Experience with high temperature handling materials
  • Experience analyzing and characterizing single and stacked thin and thick film layers.
  • Experience with thin film-based transducers.

Responsibilities

  • Design and execute microfabricated sensor applications for Aerospace engines and aircrafts testing.
  • Support microfabricated sensor system integration to engine/rig and support testing and data post-processing.
  • Support microfabricated sensor process improvement and update the process documents.
  • Maintain lab facilities and equipment and update their operational procedures.
  • Adhere to business standards, practices, procedures, & product requirements.
  • Review designs and consult with senior technical leaders for evaluation of work.
  • Develop project design, implementation and cost proposals.
  • Develop strong internal and external customer relationships by serving as an interface point within GE Aerospace.
  • Will be required to lead the Thin Film Lab technology development and gain hands-on experience with thin film processes.
