About The Position

EMCOR Government Services has an opportunity for a Lead Engineer in Washington, DC. The Lead Engineer provides operations and maintenance support for the Department of Transportation in Washington, D.C. The position is covered by the CBA for Local 99. The scheduled hours are: Sunday - Thursday 7:00am - 3:00pm #EGS #LI-NS1

Requirements

  • Valid DC 3rd Engineer License
  • 8 years of experience preferred
  • Be proficient and knowledgeable in HVAC systems
  • Be able to perform preventive maintenance on all operational and mechanical equipment.
  • Be knowledgeable of operating related electrical equipment and machinery.
  • Demonstrate the ability to read and understand Blueprints, schematics, and specifications.
  • Be able to demonstrate practical knowledge of Chiller Plant Operations.
  • Be able to demonstrate practical knowledge of Boiler Operations
  • Be able to demonstrate practical knowledge of Building Air Systems.
  • Must be willing to work shift work.

Responsibilities

  • Directly reports to Sr. Chief Operating Engineer/Chief Operating Engineer and NARA I Operations Manager, as required.
  • Directs work to subordinate Local 99 lead operating engineers and other trades and/or other shops/unions/subcontractors.
  • Receives, schedules/assigns, monitors, and reports service calls and maintenance.
  • Provides assistance and technical support of operations and maintenance.
  • Serves as Acting Chief Operating Engineer for NARA I, if required.
  • Performs asset/equipment inspections, recommends improvements per industry standards, develops project estimates for IDIQ work.
  • Oversees critical equipment, including but not limited to central plants.
  • Be available and flexible to respond on-site for 24/7/365 critical operations.
  • Performing duties associated with the operation, maintenance, and repair of refrigeration and air-conditioning and heating equipment.
  • Adjusting and minor repairs to mechanical and electrical equipment and component parts of heating and air-conditioning systems and auxiliary support equipment.
  • Making physical inspections of work performed, equipment and testing of equipment for correct operation of all components of the refrigeration cycle and other relevant factors contributing to the proper and efficient operation of systems, boilers, chillers, HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, etc.
  • Answering occupants’ complaints relating to Trades and Central Plant and reports information to management.
  • Providing technical support in the efficient and safe operation and maintenance of all mechanical equipment, reports recommendations and work accomplished to management.
  • Develops procedures/checklists, trains, and enforces standards, as required.
  • Proposing operational changes to improve efficient use of the facilities equipment.
  • Sends management detailed reports related to all operations and maintenance.
  • Presents/briefs status on maintenance, repair, and IDIQ on-going and scheduled.
  • All other duties as assigned.
