The Lead Wind Turbine Controls Engineer is part of the Turbine Functionality team which is part of the Controls & Operability organization which handles the full lifecycle of wind turbine controls development – development of new technologies, design and implementation on the actual product, prototype and field testing, and field issue resolution. In this role you will develop controls software for the wind turbine mechanical and electrical components. This role provides first-hand knowledge of wind turbines & controls system design.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Controls Engineering or similar discipline
  • 3+ years of experience in software development relevant to wind turbine control system design
  • Proficient in Matlab Simulink

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Alarm Management program across its full lifecycle, including strategy, design, implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement.
  • Gather and refine software-level requirements and implement wind turbine control software in collaboration with cross-functional engineering teams.
  • Perform Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and translate findings into robust, testable requirements for wind turbine software features and components.
  • Develop, maintain, and execute test cases for new and existing wind turbine control features to ensure performance, reliability, and safety.
  • Create and maintain clear, comprehensive engineering documentation for control algorithms, system behavior, interfaces, and design decisions.
  • Partner with internal and external stakeholders to drive corrective and preventive actions, ensuring world-class quality and reliability of core control components and alarm functions.
