About The Position

The Role: Entegris is currently seeking a Lead Engineer, Control Systems Engineering to join our Materials Solutions Division. This position will be at our Hillsboro, OR facility. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing advanced control systems and automation solutions for industrial processes. This role involves leading projects, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards, and optimizing system performance to improve efficiency and reliability. What You’ll Do: Design & Development: Develop PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems for industrial automation. Design new systems from scratch with functional process design. Support development of MES (Manufacturing Execution System) for the Hillsboro Manufacturing site Programming & Integration: Program and troubleshoot PLCs (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, etc.), HMIs, and motion control systems. Integrate sensors, actuators, and instrumentation into automated systems. Troubleshoot, making changes to existing systems on production floor (hardware & software). Project Leadership: Lead automation projects from concept through commissioning. Collaborate with cross-functional teams (mechanical, electrical, software). Leadership/mentorship of other team members. Attend multi-functional meetings, representing the Controls Team. Testing & Commissioning: Perform FAT (Factory Acceptance Testing) and SAT (Site Acceptance Testing). Ensure systems meet performance, safety, and compliance standards. Optimization & Maintenance: Analyze system performance and implement improvements. Provide technical support and training for maintenance teams. Prepare detailed technical documentation, including wiring diagrams, control logic, and user manuals. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, automation engineering, or mechatronics or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in industrial environments as controls engineer with progressive career growth.
  • Strong experience with PLC programming (Rockwell, Siemens), SCADA systems, and industrial networks (EtherNet/IP, Modbus, Profibus).
  • Experience in operations of a 24/7 Manufacturing facility, and availability to support the facility 24/7.
  • Knowledge of safety standards (NFPA 79/70/70E, IEC 61131, OSHA).
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong documentation skills.
  • Strong data driven mindset and systems thinking.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in robotics, motion control, and Industry 4.0 technologies.
  • Machine vision experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with MES and ERP integration.
  • Experience with Safety Instrumented Systems desired.
  • Control Systems PE will be a plus.
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • JMP, SQL, PowerBI, Excel, Ignition, Critical Manufacturing proficiency.
  • SAP background and experience.
  • Enthusiastic learner and continuous improvement mindset.
