As part GE Aerospace Engineering, the Lead Engineer - Composites Design will be responsible for the mechanical design, manufacture, and delivery of composite hardware used in the development testing of the next generation of narrow body jet engines. You will be required to push the boundaries of what is possible with the latest technologies and materials developed at GE Aerospace. This role is a part of the Structures & Boosters team. This position has the flexibility of optional hybrid schedule once fully trained. The hybrid schedule consists of working in the office minimum of 3 days per week and the option to work from home on the other days, based on team/project schedules.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in engineering from an accredited university or college
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a mechanical design and analysis engineering position, with at least 1 year in composites design
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a composites design and analysis engineering position
  • PMC Experience preferred
  • Passion for the aviation industry and advancing the state-of-the-art

  • Effective problem identification and solution skills
  • Experience in design, analysis and manufacture of composite components
  • Proficiency in CAD and CAE tools for design and analysis

Responsibilities

  • Execute the design and analysis of assigned components or sub-assemblies using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and program requirements
  • Provide technical guidance that influences outcomes to other people supporting moderate complexity tasks
  • Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned hardware consistent with engineering policies and procedures
  • Develop action plans, with guidance, to respond to issues/ problems
  • Recommend, with guidance, the approach to meet the technical and program requirements
  • Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews with internal and external customers
