About The Position

L3Harris in Salt Lake City, Utah, is seeking a skilled EMI/EMC Electrical Engineer to join our growing team. As a key member of our engineering organization, you will contribute to the architecture, analysis, testing, and documentation of products supporting a variety of defense programs. Working under limited supervision, you will ensure our products comply with electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) standards and support technical activities throughout the design and test lifecycle.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree (preferably in Electrical Engineering) and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in EMI/EMC engineering roles
  • Solid working knowledge of EMI/EMC design concepts, including shielding, source suppression, grounding, and containment at PCB, subassembly, and system levels
  • Experience designing to and/or testing against MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-464, and applicable commercial standards
  • Familiarity with electromagnetic theory, radiated/conducted emissions, and coupling effects
  • Proficiency in the use of standard test equipment (oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, RF amplifiers, EMI probes)
  • Experience with EMC simulation or analysis tools (such as Ansys HFSS, Keysight ADS, SPICE, etc.)
  • Understanding of commercial and military EMC standards (FCC, CE-Mark, RTCA DO-160, DEF-STAN 59-41)
  • Experience contributing to EMI/EMC documentation and certification activities
  • iNARTE certification or equivalent is a plus
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong teamwork and problem-solving abilities

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3/EMI/EMC) requirements are understood and integrated into product design, planning, testing, and documentation in compliance with applicable standards (e.g., MIL-STD-461).
  • Support technical reviews and contribute to design activities at both the system and sub-system level, including: Component partitioning, packaging, and cable design (internal/external) Grounding and isolation approaches Schematic review and CCA layout for EMI considerations Conducting trade studies and basic simulations relevant to EMI/EMC
  • Execute engineering tasks for product design, test, and troubleshooting to support compliance with E3 requirements.
  • Assist in developing EMI control plans, test procedures, and test reports.
  • Prepare and maintain required documentation in support of product certification and engineering release needs.
  • Participate in laboratory and chamber test activities, including equipment setup and data collection.
  • Interface occasionally with customers and stakeholders to clarify technical requirements and test results.
  • Support proposal efforts for new business opportunities related to EMI/EMC requirements.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US Security Clearance (Secret or higher)
