About The Position

The Department of Facility Maintenance (DFM), Public Building and Electrical Maintenance Division, is seeking a Lead Electrician-Electronic Equipment Repairer in Honolulu. Under the general supervision of the Electrician-Electronic Equipment Repair Supervisor, this position supervises and participates in the installation, maintenance and repair of a wide variety of electrical systems, wiring systems, equipment and appurtenances for all facilities under the jurisdiction of the Department of Facility Maintenance. The work schedule is Monday to Friday from 6:50 a.m. to 3:20 p.m. The position will be assigned to service locations that will be subject to applicable state and federal laws in order to access the facilities. The Lead Electrician ensures that subordinates and self adhere to applicable safety practices, rules, and procedures, performing all duties in a safe and acceptable manner to ensure the safety of self, co-workers, and the general public. Other related duties may be required.

Requirements

• Experience and/or training demonstrating competence in journey level skills and duties.
• Knowledge of principles and theories of electricity and electronics.
• Experience in installing, maintaining, testing and repairing electrical/electronic equipment.
• Familiarity with laws, rules and standards pertaining to electrical/electronic construction and maintenance.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, diagrams and schematics.
• Ability to plan, assign and review the work of subordinates.

Nice To Haves

• Possession of a journey level electrician's license.
• Valid supervising electrician license.
• Forklift Operator's Certification Card.
• Certificate of Medical Clearance for Respirator Use.

Responsibilities

• Supervises and participates in the installation, maintenance and repair of electrical systems.
• Ensures adherence to safety practices and procedures.
• May be called out to work during off-duty status for electrical emergencies.
• Works at various heights using electric lifts, scaffolds, and aerial trucks.
• Performs other related duties as required.
