About The Position

SGS is currently looking for a Lead Electrical Inspector to oversee the electrical inspections of all electrical, communication, and instrumentation installations on our client's construction site and ensure such installations are performed in accordance with the Company drawings, plans, specifications and the terms of the construction contract or agreement. This role will be located at the construction site near Union City, Indiana and expected to last ~8 months or until the facility is in service. The Lead Electrical Inspector is responsible for overseeing and executing electrical inspections for large-scale industrial construction projects, including carbon capture and storage (CCS), energy, and process facilities. This role ensures all electrical installations comply with applicable codes, engineering specifications, project standards, and regulatory requirements. Serve as the Lead Electrical Inspection authority on assigned projects Coordinate daily inspection activities with construction, engineering, and QA/QC teams Provide guidance and mentorship to junior electrical inspectors Review contractor inspection test plans (ITPs) and electrical QC documentation Participate in project meetings, including constructability reviews and turnover planning Inspect electrical installations. Verify compliance with applicable electrical codes, standards, project specifications, and approved installation procedures. Review and approve electrical inspection reports and deficiency logs Ensure accurate documentation for construction completion and system turnover Maintain inspection records in accordance with project QA/QC requirements Enforce electrical safety standards and safe work practices

Requirements

  • Certified Journeyman Electrician (minimum requirement); Master Electrician preferred, with ICC Electrical Inspector – E2 certification or equivalent strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 10+ years of hands-on industrial electrical construction and/or inspection experience, with demonstrated lead or senior inspection responsibility
  • Proven experience working on heavy industrial or energy-related projects (process plants, power, chemical, ethanol, CCS, or similar)
  • Strong working knowledge of: NEC / NFPA 70 Industrial power and control systems Electrical construction practices for large industrial facilities
  • Ability to read, interpret, and inspect against electrical drawings, schematics, and technical specifications
  • Prior experience supporting commissioning or startup activities
  • Experience inspecting hazardous (classified) electrical installations
  • Familiarity with contractor QA/QC processes and inspection documentation
  • Strong reporting, documentation, and field coordination skills
  • Ability to work well with others & independently. Works well under pressure.
  • Ensures full compliance with the company’s Health & Safety, Code of Integrity, and Professional Conduct policies.
  • Ability to plan and prioritize
  • The candidate will need their own vehicle to get to the industrial construction site.
