About The Position

This position will design and lead the development of digital electronic hardware which will be used on terrestrial military vessels, aircraft, satellites, orbital vehicles, and launch vehicles. L3Harris Space & Sensors Division, headquartered in Mason, Ohio, designs, develops, and manufactures complex systems (electronic, avionics, transceivers, transmitters, electro-optical, and electro-mechanical) for the defense, aerospace, and commercial markets. L3Harris is a recognized leader in Electro-Optical technologies that enable systems to support surveillance, reconnaissance, threat detection, and self-protection missions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience, Graduate/Master's Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience or in lieu of a degree, a minimum of 13 years of prior related experience is required.
  • Experience with design and leadership of digital electronic hardware.
  • Experience with VHDL design.
  • Experience with FPGA based implementations and common peripherals including but not necessarily limited to: DDR, Flash, EEPROM, Analog-to-Digital Converters (ADC), Digital-to-Analog Converters (DAC), and transceivers.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience using Siemens DxDesigner and Expedition.
  • Experience designing FPGA based hardware for high reliability applications.
  • Proficient in MS Office and Visio.
  • Previous experience as a lead and design avionics and communications equipment used on terrestrial military vessels, aircraft, satellites, orbital vehicles, and launch vehicles is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Designs and develops digital circuit card assemblies (CCA) and associated systems.
  • Optimizes digital systems to serve internal and external customers.
  • Understands FPGA based implementations and common peripherals including but not necessarily limited to: DDR, Flash, EEPROM, Analog-to-Digital Converters (ADC), Digital-to-Analog Converters (DAC), and transceivers.
  • Follows established design practices and leads/participates in system level or CCA reviews, e.g., requirements, architecture, and design reviews both internal and external with customers.
  • Evaluates digital systems processes and work standards, suggests measures to ensure compliance, and identifies and implements improvements.
  • Supports technology roadmaps and IRAD efforts.
  • Supports bid and proposal activities, including cost and schedule estimation.
  • Identifies design risks of electrical engineering projects.
  • Provides engineering support for delivered products.
  • Evaluates design tools and provides upgrade rationale based on return-on-investment analyses.
