About The Position

Lead Electrical Engineer The Lead Electrical Engineer leads high-complexity electromechanical projects across several product categories and serves as a technical reference within the organization. This role provides cross-functional guidance, establishes design strategies, and proactively identifies and resolves critical issues to ensure successful product development and delivery.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering required. Master of Science in Electrical Engineering preferred, from an ABET-accredited institution or program.
  • Experience: Five (5) to seven (7) years of direct electrical work experience.
  • Skills: Strong technical, analytical, planning, time management, organizational, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Expertise in electrical engineering design principles and methodologies, with a proven track record of leading circuit development, directing testing strategies, and interpreting complex test results.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to present technical analyses and financial justifications to support decision-making at all organizational levels.
  • Ability to function effectively in an environment of constantly changing priorities, goals, and direction, often under stressful conditions and time constraints.
  • Strong team focus and the ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint) is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in the design of hand-held electronic products and rechargeable battery systems is preferred.
  • Experience with small rechargeable batteries (e.g., 18650, Li-Po pouch) and USB charging methodologies is a plus.
  • Prior experience with AC/DC, DC/AC, and DC/DC power electronics is preferred.
  • Proficiency with software compilers such as C, C++, or similar is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Architect the electrical subsystem for new platforms, defining interconnects and power domains.
  • Lead technical efforts across multiple development projects, ensuring alignment and reuse.
  • Develop and enforce best practices in design reviews, validation strategies, and risk mitigation.
  • Define advanced test strategies for functional, reliability, and environmental qualification.
  • Evaluate new technologies and propose integration paths for future product innovation.
  • Mentor cross-functional engineers on architecture tradeoffs and hardware/software co-design.
  • Serve as the lead interface between product management and engineering for electrical concerns.
  • Establish standards for schematic symbol libraries and PCB layout practices.
  • Present design overviews and project updates to senior leadership and stakeholders.
  • Guide junior engineers in resolving difficult circuit and system-level issues.
  • Collaborate with supply chain to define long-term sourcing strategies for key components.
  • Support root cause investigations across development, manufacturing, and field service.
  • Implement robust margin analysis and design-for-reliability reviews during development.
  • Oversee agency certifications for electrical safety, EMC, and energy efficiency.
  • Standardize electrical documentation format and review workflows.
  • Lead advanced troubleshooting involving thermal, signal integrity, and power quality issues.
  • Ensure system compliance with industry standards such as ISO or IEC.
  • Develop and optimize electrical system cost models and design trade-off analysis.
  • Drive technical aspects of supplier selection and contract manufacturing readiness.
  • Align project resources with milestone deliverables and design gates.
  • Serve as a key contributor to post-mortem and continuous improvement meetings.
  • Define modular design approaches for scalable and reusable architectures.
  • Perform other duties as required within the nature and level of work.
