WSP is currently initiating a search for a Lead Electrical Engineer for our San Diego, CA office. Provides high level technical assistance and guidance for multi-site/phase due diligence, investigation, remediation, impact assessment, permitting, design, development, and construction of utility, industrial, and commercial scale projects in the public and private sector.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Architectural Engineering.
  • 7 to 10 years of relevant post education experience as an electrical engineer in the building systems field.
  • Professional Engineer license required.
  • Proficient with electrical engineering codes, principles, practices, process, design, and application to permitting.
  • Extensive knowledge of building electrical infrastructure design.
  • Demonstrates competence and comprehensive knowledge concerning adjacent disciplines such as lighting, fire protection, and low voltage systems.
  • Experience with electrical infrastructure planning, design, and construction management.
  • Well-defined specific knowledge of relevant engineering and electrical construction laws, codes, regulations, compliance practices.
  • Ability to plan and conduct observations and investigations on various aspects of construction and design.
  • Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated high-level of self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities.
  • Highly proficient with technical writing, office automation, discipline-specific design software.
  • Well-developed critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety.

Responsibilities

  • Research, design, concept development, planning, and construction of electrical building systems.
  • Provide high level technical assistance and guidance for multi-site/phase due diligence.
  • Substantiate reports and documentation to advise on material, installations, design, component, and construction specifications.
  • Determine methods for collecting, compiling, and analyzing data relating to building electrical systems.
  • Review and advise on third-party design documents, procurement lists, and project plans.
  • Perform professional and complex electrical engineering work relating to design.
  • Lead junior engineers with research and recommendations of components identified in design requirements.
  • Verify the characteristics of a site, providing technical input and guidance.
  • Develop electrical calculations for loads, equipment sizing, short circuit studies, and single line diagram development.
  • Prepare data and visualizations such as tables, charts, accurate reports, sketches, calculations, and illustrations.
  • Maintain an elevated level of quality and responsiveness to client requirements.
  • Provide guidance and training to entry-level engineers.
  • Prepare technical reports and presentations that explain research, findings, and recommendations.
  • Independently and actively build relationships with new and existing clients.
  • Interact with regulatory agencies, subcontractors, and clients in a confident and professional manner.
