About The Position

This position allows for a hybrid work schedule with a mix of work spent in office and working remote from home. This position will offer you the opportunity to utilize and expand your academic background in Power Systems to provide power system modeling and analytical support interdisciplinary project teams. You will be involved in supporting the interconnection of new power generation resources – including onshore and offshore wind, solar PV, battery energy storage, and traditional thermal generation, transmission and distribution planning, design of new power plants – including thermal and renewable resources, modifications to existing power generation facilities, power system protection, and integration of new technologies such as electric vehicles, microgrids, and green hydrogen production. Your work will have you perform the following types of studies: Power Flow, Short Circuit, Protection Coordination, Arc Flash, Transient and Dynamic Stability, Transient Over-voltage, Power Quality and Harmonics, System Impact, Cable Ampacity, Grounding. There is the potential for you to travel to client offices and project sites to provide on-site consultation.

Requirements

  • BS in Electrical Engineering with a strong academic background in Power Systems Analysis.
  • MSEE or Ph.D. is required.
  • 12 or more years of related engineering experience.
  • Understanding of the practical application of electrical engineering and technology.
  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles for technical plans and models.
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Solid interpersonal skills and ability to work with and guide others.

Nice To Haves

  • Internship or work experience in performing power analysis within the power industry.
  • Experience with power systems analysis software such as PSS/E, PowerWorld, PSLF, etc.
  • Strong working knowledge of scripting languages such as Python, JavaScript.
  • Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam and designation as an Engineer in Training.

Responsibilities

  • Provide power system modeling and analytical support to interdisciplinary project teams.
  • Support the interconnection of new power generation resources including wind, solar PV, battery energy storage, and traditional thermal generation.
  • Plan and design transmission and distribution systems.
  • Design new power plants and modify existing power generation facilities.
  • Conduct various power system studies including Power Flow, Short Circuit, Protection Coordination, and more.
  • Travel to client offices and project sites for on-site consultation.
