About The Position

The Lead EDI Engineer (Functional) is responsible for the design, implementation, monitoring, and support of enterprise-wide Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) integrations with internal systems and external trading partners. This role serves as a subject matter expert for EDI platforms, transaction flows, data mapping, and connectivity protocols, while providing production support, onboarding new partners, and driving continuous improvement of EDI processes and platforms. The position requires close collaboration with business stakeholders, IT teams, and external trading partners to ensure reliable, compliant, and scalable EDI operations across multiple platforms and transaction sets.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 5 years of related experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Monitor, reconcile, and support all inbound and outbound EDI transaction processing across enterprise EDI platforms including Evision, TSB, PolyAtom, and Oracle E-Business Suite.
  • Act as the primary liaison between internal business units, IT teams, and external trading partners for EDI-related initiatives, issue resolution, and onboarding efforts.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve EDI transmission, mapping, data integrity, and connectivity issues, ensuring timely resolution within defined service-level agreements (SLAs).
  • Design, develop, and maintain EDI maps and workflows for translating data between EDI, flat files, JSON, and cXML formats.
  • Onboard new trading partners by gathering business and technical requirements, documenting specifications, configuring communication protocols (AS2, VAN, SFTP), and performing end-to-end testing.
  • Provide production support for EDI operations, including re-processing and re-triggering orders, advance ship notices (ASNs), invoices, and other transaction sets.
  • Monitor VANs and other communication channels to ensure reliable and secure transmission of EDI data.
  • Perform root cause analysis on recurring EDI issues and implement permanent fixes to improve system stability and business continuity.
  • Compare and validate outputs between legacy and new EDI platforms to identify discrepancies and ensure functional parity during platform transitions.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation for trading partner configurations, mapping specifications, workflows, and operational procedures.
  • Track, research, and analyze EDI data related to purchase orders, invoices, and other transaction sets to support business operations and audits.
