About The Position

This position is responsible for performing Transthoracic Echocardiograms, TEE, Stress Echo and Doppler, etc., as well as processing corresponding paperwork and charging. As a Lead this position is responsible for the overall education experience of students and for the overall training and applicable competencies of new technologists. Also as a Lead this position is responsible to hold other staff technologists accountable for adhering to protocol and to make sure that the work of staff technologists are in compliance with current quality standards.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an approved technical, professional, vocational program
  • Advanced Cardiac Sonographer Certification from CCI (Cardiovascular Credentialing International) Must achieve within 2 years of taking position
  • Highly developed understanding of Cardiac Anatomy and Hemodynamics
  • 4-5 years Clinical experience

Responsibilities

  • Works with the cardiologists to ensure that the quality standards are being met.
  • Reports on any equipment transcription issues.
  • Ensures patient safety.
  • Provides timely processing of accompanying paperwork, charging, filing, etc.
  • Helps with other department duties as necessary: works with GXT and other staff. Is a team player.
  • Take call as needed.
  • Demonstrates competence in providing clear and accurate technical images.
  • Take appropriate measures.
  • Conveys to the physician any necessary information.
  • Assists with QA, IAC accreditation, staff education and other duties assigned by management.
  • The Lead Echosonographer must actively work in the hospital environment and perform all hospital-based testing including structural heart procedures if applicable and provide direction during daily departmental activities.
  • The Lead Echosonographer must also take call and be in the weekend and holiday rotation.
  • The Lead Echosonograper must make themselves available as a resource for the Echo staff with regards to all Echo imaging, protocol, and quality.
  • They must also seek out and encourage Echo-related education opportunities for all Echo staff and ensure that there is education opportunities provided quarterly.
  • Must actively assist with or take on Echo Technical Director duties for IAC accreditation.
