As a Lead Driver at Coastal Waste & Recycling, you will be the backbone of our operations, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality waste collection services while leading by example. You will be responsible for guiding a team of drivers while ensuring that all routes are completed on time and that our waste collection equipment is maintained and operating safely. This role requires strong leadership, excellent driving skills, and a commitment to safety.

Requirements

Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with a clean driving record
Proven experience as a CDL driver, preferably in the waste management industry
Knowledge of local geography and road networks
Strong understanding of safety regulations and procedures
Ability to operate and maintain waste collection vehicles and equipment
Excellent communication and leadership skills to lead and motivate a team
Physical stamina to handle the demands of the job, including lifting and operating heavy equipment
Must be able to safely lift and move 50lbs or more at a time
Able to sit in trailer cab for extended periods
Shifts may vary, 40+ hours per week (overtime available)

Responsibilities

Lead and guide a team of drivers on assigned routes to customers and disposal sites
Safely operate a commercial side-load truck for waste collection
Oversee the delivery, transport, and unloading of waste and recyclables at designated locations
Perform truck inspections pre- and post-trip, ensuring that equipment is in good working order
Operate vehicle controls for lifting, loading, and compacting materials
Communicate effectively with dispatch and management about delays, road conditions, or issues on the route
Ensure that trucks and equipment are maintained, clean, and safe
Provide coaching and training to other drivers on safety and operational best practices
Ensure all team members wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)
Maintain a strong focus on customer service and operational efficiency
