About The Position

The Lead Driver/Routers at Staples play a crucial role in the supply chain by training and mentoring new delivery drivers, managing delivery routes, and ensuring safe transportation of products. This position involves problem-solving for customer needs, maintaining vehicle cleanliness, and adhering to safety protocols while delivering office supplies efficiently.

Requirements

• Valid drivers' license with a safe driving history acceptable to the company.
• Ability to pass a DOT physical and drug screen (No THC).
• Obtain a 6-month DOT medical card specific to the role.
• Basic English language skills (verbal and written).
• Ability to lift up to 70lbs and push/pull items weighing up to 400 lbs with assistance.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma/GED or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum 1-year of truck driving experience (operating a 16ft or longer straight truck).
• High volume / small package delivery experience.

Responsibilities

• Train and mentor new delivery drivers.
• Fill in for supervisors and cover drivers as needed.
• Lead daily completion of work including scheduling and assisting with deliveries.
• Perform routing functions and partner with the Supervisor to resolve issues.
• Transport products safely and deliver office supplies on assigned routes.
• Manage routes for Drivers in the building.
• Load vehicles as needed depending on volume.
• Organize and load product for delivery utilizing the manifest for efficient routing.
• Ensure safe work practices and foster a safety culture.
• Provide customer support and accept product returns.
